Quick Tips for a Sprint Adventure Race:

  1. During training, be sure to practice all three disciplines equally—mountain biking, trail running, and kayaking.  Also do some strength exercise to be ready for the special tests.
  2. Train with your teammates!  Get to know their strengths and weaknesses and their personality to help make the race smooth and enjoyable for all.
  3. Practice transitions!  Talk about transitions with your teammates so you can get in, out, and on the way…without forgetting something important!
  4. Communicate!  Especially during the special tests and kayak sections.  These involve a lot of teamwork so it is important to communicate clearly and frequently.  Be nice too!  Never shout mean things to your teammates; that only makes things worse.
  5. Keep an open mind.  You often don’t know what’s going to happen next in a sprint adventure race, so be ready to tackle anything with vigor and good spirits!
  6. Keep a smile on your face!  Have fun and love your teammates!
